Hornbills Geometry Dangles 2
This series was designed predominantly based on the Great Hornbill and the Rhinoceros Hornbill. While these two hornbill species are beautiful, majestic creatures, the main purpose of this slab was to draw your attention to the Helmeted Hornbill - a species native to East Malaysia, facing serious threat from deforestation and poaching. The species is listed as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List (read about it here). To help its cause, a portion of proceeds made from each piece sold from this slab will be donated to www.HUTAN.org.my, a non-governmental organisation that is helping Ravinder Kaur (a researcher and one of Malaysia's experts on hornbills) and her team on their study on Helmeted Hornbills and its cousins, or www.xploregaia.com, a social enterprise doing conservation work in Malaysia.
